Some Things People Won’t Tell You
You could know someone for years talk every other day, laugh at the same memes, go through major life events together and still not know everything about them. Not because they’re hiding things, but simply because… they haven’t mentioned it.
It could be something deep, like a past hurt they’ve never quite healed from. Or something light and random like a course they took, a certification they earned, or that time they almost moved to a new city but changed their mind last minute. Not everything gets a broadcast. Some things just stay tucked away until the moment feels right or never at all.
And when they eventually share it, it’s not always about secrecy or lack of trust. It’s just life. We’re all carrying bits and pieces of ourselves that don’t always make it into daily conversations. Sometimes we forget. Sometimes we’re still processing. Sometimes it’s just not that deep.
So I’ve learned to stop taking it personal. The parts people show you are valid. The parts they keep to themselves? Also valid. There’s beauty in the quiet things, the slow reveals, and the soft launches.
Everyone has their reasons. And if or when they decide to share more, it’ll be on their own terms. Until then, we let people unfold gently, honestly, and in their time.
