Need a Feel-Good Show? Let’s Talk Sitcoms

Table of Contents

You know those shows you stumble on and suddenly, your week revolves around new episodes or rewatching your favorite scenes? That’s what Abbott Elementary and Ghosts became for me. I didn’t realize how deeply I needed something light, hilarious, and oddly comforting until I started watching them. Now that I’ve caught up, I’m slightly panicking what am I supposed to do with myself now?

Let’s start with Abbott Elementary.
It’s sharp, chaotic, and hilariously true to life, especially if you’ve ever stepped into a public school system. But the real star for me? Ava Coleman. The principal you love to hate, and somehow still root for. She’s wildly unserious, with a zero-filter mouth and chaotic energy that keeps everyone on their toes—but underneath the sass and sarcasm, she surprises you with genuine heart. It’s that unpredictable mix of absurdity and sincerity that makes her scenes the most memorable.

Now let’s talk Ghosts the U.S. version. I didn’t expect to enjoy a comedy about spirits haunting a house, but here we are. And two ghosts have completely stolen my attention:

  • Isaac Higgintoot – a former Revolutionary War officer, deeply dramatic, historically inaccurate, and very closeted… until he’s not. His exaggerated elegance and passive-aggressive one-liners? Top-

    tier comedy.

  • Hetty Woodstone – the uptight, aristocratic matriarch of the mansion who’s obsessed with decorum but also shockingly savage. Her slow unraveling as she unlearns old beliefs is pure gold.

There’s something refreshing about watching stories that don’t demand too much emotional energy, but still leave you feeling seen, soothed, and thoroughly entertained. These shows are easy to binge, hard to stop thinking about, and even harder to replace.

So, yeah. I’ve finished both. And I’m currently staring at my screen like, Okay… now what?

Got any sitcoms or light shows that gave you the same comfort? Drop your favorites I need a new obsession.
